Ellie’s First Wedding

This past weekend, we had the privilege of attending my aunt's wedding to a great guy I am proud to now call my uncle. John and I were looking forward to seeing my family and being able to boogie on the dance floor.
The whole day was perfect. The weather was a clear 70 degrees; perfect for an outdoor ceremony in the early days of August. My aunt looked absolutely stunning and the ceremony was beautiful. John and I started a new tradition that at every wedding we attend, we will repeat the vows quietly to each other to renew the promises we made almost 2 years ago. It was nice to repeat those vows and acknowledge the fact that we are still a team, and although our lives have changed so much already, we are going to do our best to continue to grow as a team. It was a very special moment.
Back to the wedding. We weren't sure how long we would keep Ellie at the reception or if we would call up John's aunt and uncle to take her for the night to babysit. We said we would play it by ear and see how she was doing. Remember when I wrote about those noise cancelling earphones I bought for Eleanor? Turns out they work like a charm!! We set up her Rock n Play in the back of the reception hall, had her earphones on, and she was perfectly content. She did wake up a few times, but she was quickly whisked back to sleep by either John or I or a family member. Everyone loved having her around and it was nice to see her being loved by all.
One of the highlights of the night was when my aunt and grandfather asked all dad's and daughters to join them out of the dance floor for the rest of Tim McGraw's "Humble and Kind." John and I were outside with Eleanor at the time when they had announced all dads and daughters to join in. John's eyes lit up and he immediately grabbed Ellie and dashed to the center (yes, the center) of the dance floor. Ellie had her big earphones on and could not keep her eyes off of her dada. It was a heart warming moment for me to watch while my sister and I danced with our dad.
The whole night and weekend was exciting and was centered around one of my favorite things- love. You can't beat that. So on this Monday, make sure you tell the ones you love how much they mean to you. It could make their whole week!
